- The following morning, after regaining our strength, we continued on. Donnor has proven to be a most effective tracker, never leading us from the trail, (of course we didn’t tell him that a blind, mute could have pick up this herd’s trail.) After we were well into that evening, we heard some lizardfolk talking off in the distance. They proved to be guards standing post. After slaying the first two guards, we saw a harpy fly off, and then were approached by two more guards. We slew one of the guards, and knocked the other unconscious and restrained him.
- After a short questioning, and without much prodding, the lizardman told us that the “shaman” has the others and that their hideout was under the dirt mound they were patrolling. After searching for some time, we found the entrance to the hideout.

- We made the two day trip only to find that they have been under siege all day, and the lizard folk from the Mistmarsh made off with 3 of tower guard, and Marzena.
- Edsel is one of the guard. That has assumed charge since the captain of the guard was killed. He is reluctant to take the post, but no one else has stepped up.
- Allustan wanted to leave immediately to find out what Marzena fate is, and understandably so, but we could not leave the keep in its current situation and expect it not to be overrun when we returned.
- We had Allustan stay in the tower with the guard, and told them to rain down arrows on the group of lizardmen that were to the east of the tower. We struck out southward to attack them head on. After quickly dispatching 15 of the lizardmen, we figured the remaining contingent would be fleeing back to wherever they came from. This actually worked out well for us, because it would give us something to track, and hopefully keep the rest of the Blackwall Keep guard intact. So without any undue time wasted, we headed south into the Mistmarsh. We weren’t able to go too far as exhaustion racked our bodies; we pushed ourselves as far as we could that evening.

Day 5 –
Wake up on enemies side of bridge, ready to cross. Nothing happened during the evening, which is a little disconcerting. At any rate we crossed the chasm and continued straight to Drellin’s Ferry to warn them. While waiting for the Ferry to cross the river to Drellin’s Ferry, we got attacked by Worgs and their goblin riders and a single hell hound.
Day 4 –
Attack on Skullgorge Bridge
Day 3 –
Traveled from Vraath Keep to Skullgorge Bridge
Iron Fist Game Session
- This morning, we decided to make our way back to the Dourstone mines.
- We made our way to the third and final door in the hidden catacombs. Upon entering, all seemed abandoned.
- After a short exploration, we quickly learned that these followers of Vecna seem to be some species of bird humanoid.
- They keep popping out from around corners, and passing in and out of secret doors to keep an element of surprise.
- While chasing the birdmen through the halls, Donnor happened on a couple of dire weasels that didn’t take kindly to his presence.
Iron Fist Game Session
- While waiting for Fester to return, we decided to head over to Venelle’s to see if we can unload some of our loot. She was only interested in the composite longbows, so we left those with her possibly in exchange for some magic arrows she has on hand. She suggested that we might take our gemmed dice to one of the gaming parlors in town to see if they might be interested in buying them.

- The grimlock’s leader’s defeat brought an end to their occupation of this cavern. We explored the remaining chambers and looted what we could. We released five surviving grimlocks in the process.
- Having cleared out this complex, it was time to leave. We collected our Krenshar trophy on the way out. No doubt Fester will be excited to get his new prize!
- There is still one more complex remaining to be dealt with.
- Headed back up to Diamond Lake and the Able Carter Coaching Inn. Made arrangements with Cade to keep the Krenshar in the stables until Fester returned.

Day 2 –
We headed out of Drellin’s Ferry west along the Dawn Way. The road bent north through the Witchwood forest. We discovered the Witch Trail heading east, where Norro told us we would find Jorr. Indeed, it wasn’t long before we stumbled upon Jorr’s cabin, hidden deep in a forest glade. We were immediately beset by Jorr’s hunting dogs, and we were careful to not provoke them. We called for Jorr and he greeted us, calling off his dogs. After discussing our agenda, Jorr agreed to guide us through the Witchwood, hopefully to the hobgoblins hideout.
Along the way, we were attacked by a six-headed hydra as we attempted to cross a wooden causeway built over a less traversable area of the Blackwater. A great battle ensued in which we prevailed. We set about searching an overturned wagon we found half-submerged in the swamp.
Day 1 –
On the Dawn Way, headed toward Drellin’s Ferry in the Elsir Vale. Ambushed by 12 Hobgoblins and their Tiamat cleric leader.
Arrived at Drellin’s Ferry. Instructed by town guards to speak with Norro Wiston, the Town Speaker, to learn more of recent happenings. The entrance to the town consists of an old bridge that has long since collapsed. In it’s place are a pair of ropes used to guide ferries across a slow-moving river, hence the town’s namesake.
We arrived at the town’s grand inn, The Old Bridge, and awaited Norro Wiston’s arrival. He arrived with his captain Soranna, a mildly attractive human woman. He pleaded with us to help protect Drellin’s Ferry from a growing force of hobgoblins.
We agreed. Norro instructed us to seek out Jorr Natherson on the Blackwater, a large swath of drowned forest and swampland in the Witchwood Forest. Jorr is apparently very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. We sought him out the following morning.

- Continued exploring cavern without hesitation. The southernmost corridor led straight to the quarters of the grimlock High Priest of Erythnul. We discovered him perched atop a high ledge, seemingly completely oblivious to our presence. The same could not be said of his fanatical guards, who attacked immediately.
- The speed with which we dealt with his personal guard apparently convinced the High Priest that we were worthy oppenents. He dropped down from his perch to engage us, but not before becoming invisible. This tactical advantage was short-lived, as he became visible upon his first attack.
- The battle was short and decisive, and we emerged victorious.

- Moving deeper into the grimlock caverns; stumbled upon the chieftain’s chambers. Quickly dispatched him and several of his minions.
Iron Fist Game Session
- Tried to sell MW greataxes to Tyrol at the Captain’s Blade, but he wasn’t interested due to their questionable source.
- Went to Venelle’s to sell MW composite longbows; she agreed to obtain a +1 ring of protection for Donnor in trade for the eight bows. (Due in ten days from Greyhawk)
Iron Fist Game Session
- Delved deep into the Dourstone mine. After exploring the mine (left. right, right, left through barricaded tunnel), discovered the elevator that led to the Dark Cathedral chamber, from which three halls branched. They decided to explore the eastern hall, after dispatching some evil-aligned planar-touched creatures that fled in that direction.
- It turns out that it is a temple dedicated to Hextor, the Scourge of Battle. The party successfully fought their way through the entire complex, essentially slaughtering every last cultist, save one, the apparent leader who very bravely fled the complex while his minions stayed to defend it!
Iron Fist Game Session
- Met with Luzane Parrin at Luzare’s gaming parlor. Luzane was a bit taken with Barnin. She would really like to see Balobar dealt with (just like everyone else) and encouraged the party to investigate Ragnolin mine.
- Staked out Ragnolin mine. After watching the patrols’ routine, decided to sneak up and break in. With a distraction from some thrown rocks, and some cleverly placed summoned badgers, Barnin and Donner successfully scaled the wooden stockade wall and entered the mine.
Iron Fist Game Session
- Met with Gelch Tilgast (crusty old gray-haired codger) in his own mine. No protection. Also met with Chaum Gansworth (handsome, blonde-haired kid wise well beyond his years) at his restaurant, The Rusty Bucket. Was alone at the head table during non-peak hours. Made an appt. to meet with Luzane Parrin at Lazare’s House this evening.
- Learned that none of the mine managers have anything good to say about Balobar, describing the extents of his depravity. Learned that Balobar and Ragnolin have an apparent alliance that scares Chaum.
- The party suspects Balobar in the disappearance of the tax revenue. Believes he is somehow involved with an inside informant of the Able Carter Coaching Company to arrange the attacks on the tax caravans.
Iron Fist Game Session
- Met with Mayor Lanod Neff for the first time. Lanod is cool and collected, and claims that he is paying his taxes due. He stated that he sends his monies via Able Carter Coaching caravans. It would make sense that the taxes are not reaching Greyhawk given the recent caravan raids. But who is behind it?
- Lanod Neff also indicated that there’s probably not a soul in town that would not like to see him removed from office, especially the mine managers. He suspects Balobar Smenk most of all.
Iron Fist Game Session
- Traveled to one of Smenk’s Mines just 10 minutes north on Company Road
- – Simple mine with a shack office; guards told party to find Smenk in town
- Found stables (Bldg 19), visited the Spinning Giant for the best ale (so far!) in Diamond Lake, and passed a mysterious, exotic looking building displaying a sign with the bust of a man saluting the moon
- Passed another stables (Bldg 13) on the way to Smenk’s storage mine (11)
- Searched mine for contraband and really didn’t find anything worthy of note
- Headed back to the Able Carter Coaching Inn. Passed Jalek’s and was accosted by some beggars
- Hailed by a cleric of St. Cuthbert in the square plaza; offered to “purify” our souls!
Iron Fist Game Session
- Met Allustan, agreed to arrange a meeting w/ Lanod tomorrow
- Looked at Deepspike mine; actually opened the locked doors and peeked inside
- Went to abandoned mine
- Went to Dourstone Mine and met Ragnolin Dourstone
- Learned that most would like to see Balobar Smenk removed from power
Iron Fist Game Session
- Went out for a night on the town in Diamond Lake
- Saw an evening sermon in front of the Church of St. Cuthbert where Jierian Wierus was giving a fiery sermon to a packed house and whipping himself in a religious furor
- Entered The Feral Dog and witnessed a dog pit fight. Lost a gold. Met Fester Trollump.
- Went to The Emporium and hobnobbed with some “nobles”. Gambled and drank a bit to loosen some tongues. Learned a bit about Diamond Lake’s power brokers.
- Fought off the thugs, AGAIN! This time they were armed with knives. They seemed to be even less effective armed!
- Ate breakfast with Fester at the Able Carter Coaching Inn and learned that to get an audience with Lanod, you must get in good with Allustan, Lanod’s brother.
Iron Fist Game Session
- Arrived in Diamond Lake
- Staying at the Able Carter Coaching Inn – Manned by Cade
- Kicked the crap out of four thugs that were picking on a dirty halfling
- Met Tyrol at The Captain’s Blade; bought the wand off of him, and some MW kukris
- Spoke with a minor functionary at Neff’s Manor. Told him that they were there to investigate the tax evasion
